Coast Guard searches for missing boater near Fox Island

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing boater in the vicinity of Fox Island, Wash., Thursday.

At 7:40 p.m. Coast Guard Sector Seattle received a call about a male boater who had struggled with rowing his boat before it sank.

The reporting source watched the struggle from land and stated that the boater was wearing a white jacket. It's not known if the boater was wearing a life jacket.

An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., and a 25-foot response boat crew from Station Seattle were launched to conduct a search for the missing man.

A Tacoma Police Department boat crew and a Washington State Patrol air crew also responded to help with the search.
